Holy Stone HS700 vs DJI spark | 10 Main Differences

1- Build Quality

The build quality of the HS700 drone is not that great. It is a bit bulkier in size than DJI Spark and not very compact as well. Though, it looks stylish and has a solid landing pad that eliminates the possibility of the crash during landing. HS700 has quick-release propellers that give it more efficiency.

Hands down, DJI Spark, is one of the most well-designed drones. It is one of the smallest drones that company has ever produced. The good quality plastic material is used, and it comes in various color options. It can easily survive minor crashes. Though, both the drones are good, but Spark certainly has the edge over the HS700 Model when it comes to build quality.

2- Dimensions & Weight

There is a significant difference between the size and dimension of the drone. DJI Spark is smaller and compact and weighs almost half of Holy Stone Weight. Below are the respective drone specifications.

Holy Stone HS700 Dimensions: 8.66 x 8.66 x 6.10 inches

But, this also depends upon how good you are at the flying drone. If you are good at it, you can get a decent enough footage.

While DJI Spark comes with two-axis gimbal stabilization, it has GPS GLONASS technology which provides stable flight experience, and you also get very stable footage free from jitter affect. 4- Remote Controller

Both the drones come with a decent quality remote controller. They fit perfectly in your hand. The difference is that you get a remote controller with HS700 but with spark, you have to buy it separately that adds the extra cost.

Again when it comes to build quality, the spark controller looks more premium. It connects with both iOS and Android devices. They have dedicated buttons for camera, controls, and advanced modes like RTH.

Holy Stone controller works as 2.4GHz frequency, and the drone range is up to 1km. It gets power from four 1.5 V AA batteries.

5- Flight Performance

Both the drones are pretty easy to fly. Even though you are a beginner, after a couple of flights, you’ll get good control over them. The Holy Stone can fly pretty fast. There are different speed options as well, so choose the one you are comfortable with. When it comes to flight range, the spark is the winner, but when it comes to flight duration, then HS700 gets the edge.

DJI Drone can fly up to 50km/h in sports mode that’s a pretty good speed. Its range is a lot better than the Holystone. The flight is pretty stable. Especially the altitude hold feature in the drone is accurate and precise. You leave the throttle, and the drone will stay wherever it is. There are some problems with DJI spark as well, here is the detailed article on DJI Gimbal and Battery Issues.

Both the drones are suitable for indoor and outdoor flights and show decent wind resistance as well.

HS700 Flight Range: 0.6miles
HS700 Flight Duration: upto 20mins

Spark Flight Range: 1.2miles (with Controller)
Spark Flight Duration: up to 16mins

6- Affordability

This is the part where Holy Stone certainly gets the edge over DJI Spark. If you are looking for a drone under $300 range, the Holy Stone is the right choice. While Spark will cost you around $500 and be ready to spend some extra bucks for the controller as well.

But, let me tell you that DJI Spark might seem a bit costly, but it is worth its investment. According to the company, their drones easily last for years with very less maintenance if you know how to fly them properly.

So, if you are looking to buy your first drone more for a hobby purpose, you can buy the Holy Stone, but if you want better build quality and premium experience, then DJI Spark should be your choice.

While DJI also has a good camera, a lot of people wanted 4k camera with it. It is not capable of capturing raw pictures. Its 12MP camera with CMOS sensor allows you to capture some excellent footage. What i really like about DJI Spark drone is its stabilization that provides you the buttery smooth image. According to the company, Spark also has shallow focus feature that allows to blur the background and focus only on the subject.

9- Battery Specifications

The Holy Stone HS700 comes with a 2800mAh battery which gives up to 20mins of battery backup while Spark flies only up to 16mins. You can charge spark pretty quickly while the Holy Stone model takes some more time for a full charge.

Make sure that you follow all the safety precautions when it comes to battery handling. Store them at dry place and normal temperature. Don’t overcharge the battery. Also, if you are using the different adapter for charging, it should have the same voltage and ampere rating. If you want consecutive flight experience, you can go with spare batteries as well, which are available at a lower price online.
